A Lego celebration is returning to the county for a second successive year.

The Brick Festival, one of the toy company's most popular building events, will be held at Maidstone Leisure Centre on May 11.

One of 39 festivals taking place throughout the UK this year, it includes building competitions, large-scale and model displays, as well as exclusive Lego mini figures on view.

Brick Festival's website says: "There will be some truly out-of-this-world displays at the event that you won’t want to miss.

"Each Brick Festival event offers a totally unique selection of great displays, with lots to see and do including speed-building competitions, large-scale displays, activities, traders selling loose bricks, new LEGO sets, retired LEGO sets, minifigures and accessories plus a dedicated building area.

"This will be a great day for families, collectors, adult builders and every other kind of LEGO fan.

"This celebration of all things LEGO is open to fans of all ages.

"At previous events, we have had an incredible large-scale Mos Eisley Spaceport diorama from Star Wars, a huge Great Ball Contraption that’s over 30 foot long, and so many other incredible displays."

Designed for families, Adult Fans of Lego (AFOL) and children, the event at Maidstone Leisure Centre will take place from 10am until 4pm.

Adult tickets are £7 and £5 for children aged between five and 12 for entry after 11am.

There is also early access, from 10am. Tickets cost £13.

Tots under five go free with a paying adult.

Prior to last year when it was also held at Maidstone Leisure Centre and attracted up to 3,000 visitors, the event hadn't been in the county since Chatham Dockyard played host in 2018.

Other events have had themes such as architecture, with sculptures including the Empire State Building on display, as well as characters from Disney Pixar franchises such as Toy Story.
