Drivers faced extra delays after a car and lorry were in collision on the A249 near the County Showground at Detling this morning.

Traffic was queuing on the Maidstone-bound carriageway from the Bredhurst turn-off at Scragged Oak Road to the M20 junction 7 roundabout at Maidstone.

Motorists said the delays were not helped by the usual rush-hour traffic from Sittingbourne and Sheppey.

Kent Highways confirmed there was slow-moving traffic on the A249 southbound between Jade's Crossing and the M20 J7 and warned drivers to expect delays.
