Losing weight the Widdecombe way

KENT MP Ann Widdecombe doing press-ups and running will be among the highlights of a new celebrity reality television show starting this Friday night.
Miss Widdecombe, 54, is starring in Celebrity Fit Club, a 10-part fly-on-the-wall programme following her and seven stars from the world of television and entertainment as they try to lose weight for charity. The show begins on ITV1 at 8.30pm.
Miss Widdecombe, MP for Maidstone and the Weald who is often mocked for her image, has been on diet since the start of the year, helping to raise thousands of pounds for three good causes.
She decided to lose weight after suffering back pain during last year's general election and being told her cholesterol level was too high.
She has lost two and a half stone since February and by her final weigh in on Sunday, the final day of filming, will be down to a trim nine-and-a-half stone.
She said: "I haven't a clue what people will think of me and I don't really mind. I have got the results from it."
