M20 London bound reopens after van overturns near Detling

Police were unable to reopen part of the motorway after drivers got out of theirs cars in the middle of the road.

Officers shut a section of the M20 this morning after a van flipped over near Detling.

The incident, between junction 8 and 7 of the London bound carriageway, left one person injured.

The accident saw a vehicle carrying gas canisters overturn at around 6.40am.

Highways England tweeted asking for drivers to return to their vehicles so they could reopen lane three as people were "milling about in the road".

The lane has now been reopened and traffic is starting to move.

Highways England has apologised for the delay.
