A 21-year-old cyclist was airlifted to hospital with injuries to his arm and head following a crash in Sittingbourne Road, Maidstone yesterday.
Motorists encountered major delays following the crash, which happened at 11.30am, and the male cyclist was treated at the scene before being taken to King's College Hospital in London.
The road remains closed in both directions from the Holland Road junction to the roundabout linking Bearsted Road to Penenden Heath Road.
Police are still at the scene investigating the cause and a witness said they saw as many as eight police cars in attendance immediately after the crash.
Officers are currently interviewing witnesses at the scene to find out what happened.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance are also at the scene.
