Maidstone Ladies bounced back from last week’s loss at Dereham with a 4-1 win over previously-unbeaten West Herts in the East Women's League Premier Division.

The visitors took the lead from a deflected shot but Maidstone responded with a strong run by Cara Brogan, ending with a powerful strike.

Maidstone continued to dominate and went ahead in the 16th minute with Kirsty Hotson guiding another Brogan shot home.

It was 4-1 before the break with Claire Daniels scoring after two penalty corners, the first a strong strike from a rebound by captain Rachel Thompson, the second a shot into the roof of the net.

Maidstone shut up shop for the second half, helped by good performances from Jan Reason and Louise Cassey.

They will aim to continue their form with a trip to Cambridge University on Saturday.

Maidstone’s men got off to the worst possible start in South League Premier Division 1, however, with a 4-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove and will be looking to bounce back at home to Staines on Saturday.

They did, however, win 5-3 at Bromley and Beckenham on Sunday to progress to round two of the National Cup.
