A Maidstone man has been arrested on suspicion of the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Brighton.

The 27-year-old was apprehended in Kent yesterday afternoon in connection with the brutal attack on Tuesday, February 15.

The teenage victim was walking northwards along Dyke Road in the city at around 12.20am when the alleged attack took place.

The man is being taken to Sussex today for questioning.
