Maidstone musician Trevor Wiles’ dream came true when he attended the launch of his charity single in the presence of broadcast legend, Sir Terry Wogan.

The 44-year-old BT manager from Penenden Heath rocked-up at the BBC Club in London for the official release of Loves Forever, the "emotional ballad" he penned with fellow songsmith, Paul Hadler.

The tune was one of four chosen from 2,000 entries in an over-40s, Oldie Composers, competition which featured on Sir Terry’s radio show.

Part of the prize was to have their original demo given a professional makeover at London’s Maida Vale Studios where Pink Floyd drummer, Nick Mason, joined them on a re-recording of the track.

The finished article is now available for download on iTunes with every penny raised from sales being donated to Barnado’s.

Before his date with rock and radio royalty, guitarist Trevor’s 25-year songwriting hobby had yielded only modest success, providing music for local theatre groups and the like.

But he’s determined to remain unaffected but his sudden attachment to the stars.

Speaking about his studio jam with the Pink Floyd sticksman, Trevor said: "I’ve had an experience which money can’t buy.

"To be able to talk to someone like that and hear their experience first hand was incredible."
