A major route is set to be partly closed for three days for water pipe repairs.

Ashford Road in Beartsed near Maidstone shut for through traffic yesterday (May 28) and is expected to reopen on Friday (May 31).

Access will be stopped in Romney Close at the junction with A20 Ashford Road.

Kent County Council says the closure is “necessary to enable water pipe repairs to be carried out by South East Water”.

The water company has been asked for comment.

The alternative route is via Romney Close and A20 Ashford Road.
