A man has been arrested in Maidstone town centre this afternoon.

Police were called to Marks and Spencer in Week Street at 1.03pm and arrested a man on suspicion of shoplifting.

Four officers were called to the scene and the man was taken away in a police van.

Enquiries are ongoing.
