An Upchurch man has been charged with assault.

David Sheppard, 60, of The Street was detained after being stopped in his car, the day after the alleged offence.

The arrest came after officers spotted the vehicle in Boxley Road, Maidstone at 1.20am on Sunday.

He has since been charged in connection with an alleged assault at a private address in Sittingbourne on Saturday, and will appear before magistrates in Maidstone on June 7.
