A suspected shoplifter has been charged over a number of alleged thefts.

Alcohol, electrical items and food were reportedly stolen from Tesco Express and Wilkinson on Sunday in Maidstone.

Leonard Duvall, of Quarry Road, Tovil, was arrested by officers from the town centre task force on Monday.

The 45-year-old was later charged with four counts of theft.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and was conditionally bailed to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.
