Maidstone man found not guilty of rape at The Astoria, Portsmouth

A 24-year-old man from Maidstone has been found not guilty of twice raping a woman at a nightclub.

Ethan Barr of Mallings Drive, Bearsted, was acquitted after appearing at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Barr was charged with two counts of rape, which were reported to have happened at The Astoria, a Portsmouth nightclub, in April.

He pleaded not guilty at Southampton Magistrates' Court in June.

The trial at Portsmouth Crown Court started on Monday, October 10 and concluded last Thursday.

The jury found Mr Barr not guilty on both counts.
