Maidstone man in court after threats made to housing help staff in Church Street

A man is due to appear in court after threats were made towards staff who were helping people with housing needs.

A man made several visits to the Trinity Foyer in Church Street, Maidstone, when threats were made to harm employees who were also subjected to abusive language.

Police investigated the incident, which took place on Tuesday, October 17, and Darren Turpin was arrested on November 9.

The 55-year-old, of Marsham Street, Maidstone, was later charged with three counts of assault and one of breaching a criminal behaviour order.

He was further charged with seven counts of possessing an offensive weapon.

These charges relate to items seized from an address including several objects described as homemade throwing stars, also known as metal shurikens.

On Friday, November 10, Turpin appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court and denied all the charges.

He was remanded in custody until a hearing at the same court on Wednesday, November 15.
