A 35-year-old unemployed man appeared before a court today accused of raping a young woman.

Alan Bond, of Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, was remanded in custody by the town's magistrates.

He will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, December 8.

The alleged rape took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in a car park just off Old Tovil Road, Maidstone, and involved a woman aged 22.
