A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with a serious assault has been released without charge.

The suspect, from Larkfield, was questioned after part of Maidstone High Street was cordoned off more than 36 hours after the early morning attack on Sunday, April 17.

A 20-year-old man, from Snodland, who was also arrested in connection with the incident has had his bail extended until Monday, August 1.

The incident, which started in Rose Yard — an alleyway which connects High Street and Earl Street and is home to The Source bar — left a 23-year-old man unconscious on the pavement near the British Heart Foundation shop.

He was taken to Maidstone Hospital with head injuries.
