Police are investigating after a woman reported a man trying to “upskirt” her while she was shopping in Aldi.

It’s alleged a man, who the victim believes was in his 60s, had strapped a phone to his trainer before getting “very close” to a woman who was wearing a dress.

Officers were called at around 1.10pm on Saturday, June 10, to Aldi at Langley Park in Maidstone to reports of suspicious behaviour and a man “using a mobile phone inappropriately”.

The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, was shopping with her young son when the incident happened and she and another person in the store challenged the man before he made off.

She said: “I thought it was weird he was getting so close as there was so much space around me for him to walk around.

“I turned round to look at him as I found it odd and I noticed that on his right hand foot he had a phone tied to his trainer with the camera pointing upwards.

“At this point I said so my son ‘Look! He has a phone on his foot’, and another member of the public heard and came over to help me confront the male in question.
