A bully who threw a knife at his victim, leaving her with long-term injuries, has been jailed.

Christopher Green, of Fairmeadow, Maidstone , threatened to kill the woman before launching the blade at her after he read texts she had sent to her friends.

On November 27, 2018, Green was at the victim's home when he became agitated after reading the messages and then picked up a knife and told her she would "not get out of here alive" before throwing the knife, which hit her foot.

She received treatment to the injury that evening but was admitted to hospital six days later because the wound wouldn't heal.

In hospital, she was told it was unlikely she would gain full use of the foot again.

In April last year the victim bravely reported to police she had been in an abusive and manipulative relationship with the 33-year-old, and told officers about the assault.

Green was arrested on April 15 and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

'Nobody should feel they don’t have the option to walk away from domestic abuse.'

He pleaded guilty after the woman provided text messages and emails where he admitted the assault.

On Tuesday, September 22, at Maidstone Crown Court, Green was sentenced to four years in prison.

Investigating officer PC Annalisa Bevans said: "I sincerely hope his victim can now take some comfort from this sentence and is able to move on with her life.

"Domestic violence is a priority for Kent Police and I would encourage anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation or relationship to report it to someone and get help, no matter how long ago the abuse took place.

"There is a range of support and information available, just phone us or ask a trusted friend or relative to do it.

"Nobody should feel they don’t have the option to walk away from domestic abuse."
