A much-loved cavapoo dog has been found after going missing two months ago.

Primrose's owner Tracey Reeder, who lives in Bearsted, put out an appeal to find her autistic son's dog which went missing after a suspected break-in in October.

The two-year-old canine was found by a community policing team in Essex yesterday.

While out on patrol in Felsted, Essex, officers spotted a dog which looked similar to one reported missing in Maidstone.

A chip scanner confirmed it was Primrose and she was passed on to Kent Police before being re-united with her family near Hog Hill.

Mrs Reeder said: "Home at last. I’m so grateful for the immense support from you all, the sharing of posts is what helped find her.

"Just so happy to have my baby back home."

The 50-year-old's Facebook appeal was shared around the world, including Ireland, Australia, and Argentina.

Speaking at the time, her son Dan Walker, 27, said the dog's disappearance hit his 24-year-old brother, who has autism, the hardest.

He said: "He gets stressed quite easily but he could just pick her up and cuddle her. He is devastated and angry about it."

The family's home was believed to have been burgled while Mr Walker was out for a meal with his other brother James, 20, and their girlfriends.

When he arrived home he noticed the door and back gate to the house were open and he couldn't find Primrose, who usually ran to the door to greet them.

He found drawers in his mother's bedroom had been tipped out and jewellery was missing, as well as sentimental items such as tags Mrs Reeder had kept from her children.
