Moment lightning bolt strikes house in Allington Way, Allington, Maidstone captured on CCTV

The moment a streak of lightning hit a home has been caught on camera.

The video was taken from a CCTV camera outside a house in Beaver Road, Allington, at 5.24pm on Sunday (July 7).

Footage shows a rainy afternoon disrupted by a sudden clap of thunder as the lightning bolt directly hit a house in Allington Way.

Michelle Pearce, 48, was in her kitchen when she heard it.

She said: “It was a very loud sound and the light flickered.

“We checked the CCTV and saw how close it had come to our house as the light post is just outside the kitchen window.”

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called and three fire engines and a height vehicle attended.

While there was no fire found, crews cooled down charred sections of the roof and timbers.

There were no reported injuries and the fire service left by 6.30pm.
