Motorists faced more problems on the M20 this morning after a car overturned near Maidstone.

One lane was closed leading to growing delays on the coastbound carriageway at junction 6 with the A229 to Bluebell Hill.

The incident came after the M20 was closed for most of yesterday after a lorry spilled 700 litres of diesel oil over the London-bound carriageway. Engineers spent the night resurfacing all four lanes for 600m.

Commuters using the A229 at Bluebell Hill towards Maidstone were also facing queues following a three-vehicle crash near Common Road earlier. That has now been cleared but Kent Highways have warned: "Approach with caution, expect long delays around M2 J3."

The coastbound slip roads on the M2 and J5 with the A249 for Maidstone and Sittingbourne remain closed during flyover roadworks at Stockbury Roundabout.
