A mum of two has been inspired by other people's struggling to give back, and hopes you'll get involved.

Emma Reed first started collections for vulnerable people at Christmas, taking donations of presents for those less fortunate for her project, Make a Child Smile.

She said: "It just sort of dawned on me that a lot of children don't have what my children have, and I thought 'someone has got to do something'."

The Boughton Monchelsea mum gathered more than 600 gifts to give to disadvantaged kids, many of which went to children living in the Maidstone community, as well as others around the county.

So when a suicide bomber staged an attack at the Manchester Arena last month, Mrs Reed once again wanted to do something to help.

She called on local businesses to donate prizes, and will be raffling them off on Saturday.

Selling tickets for £2 each, the mother of two hoped to make £1,000 to go towards the fundraising efforts for the victims' families.

Having already hit that target, Mrs Reed is now hoping to raise even more by the time she stops selling tickets on Friday afternoon.

Prizes include tickets for a family of five for Leeds Castle, a meal for two at Feathers Bar and Grill at Lockmeadow, a voucher for Gravity Trampoline Park, a meal for two and prosecco at The Brenchley, and more.
