New Netflix drama being filmed in Maidstone outside County Hall

A new Netflix drama is being filmed in a Kent town today.

Remedy Pictures LTD were spotted in Maidstone today with prop police vehicles and camera crews stationed outside County Hall.

On site staff could only say that the filming was for a new Netflix drama. It's thought they will be at the location until 6pm.

The area being used was still accessible to the public, however a notice did say that anyone entering the area may be captured on film - with the footage possibly being made publicly available at a later date.

Amy Walker, who works nearby, has been living in Maidstone for almost a year.

She said: "This seems to be one of the better, more interesting things to happen in the area. You never know what is going on it Maidstone but it is nice to have something filmed for a big tv show close to home."

Her colleague, Orla Monk, said: "It's a fabulous thing to be happening, I work nearby and there have been no issues with them being here.

"It is exciting to watch them film from our office windows."

Connor Martin who was on his way to a meeting said: "It is pretty cool to see, not much like this goes on here."

Jacqueline Simmonds also felt this way.

Eating her lunch nearby she commented: "I've lived in Maidstone for 15 years and this is the first Netflix filming I've heard of.

"I think it is a good thing."

Pubgoers at the Muggleton Inn Whetherspoons were even tempted to walk through the filming area so they could be in one of the shots.

Michaela Gutsell, from Chatham, said: "It's amazing that they're filming here, how exciting.

"It is good that something is being filmed here as other shows like Top Boy have been filmed at Chatham Dockside previously.

Remedy Pictures LTD have warned the public that if they walk through the filming area they could be captured on camera

"I will be heading up to the County Hall to have a look what is going on!"

Her friend, Stacey Turner wasn't so keen to be caught on camera, however she still felt like it was good publicity for the town.

She said:"It will be good to see Maidstone on Netflix."

Netflix, Remedy Pictures LTD and Kent's film office have been contacted for further information.
