A popular nightclub that was burnt to the ground in a devastating blaze is set to reopen next month.

A huge blaze ripped through Mu Mu in Week Street, Maidstone, last year, leaving its helpless owners watching the flames destroy 30 years of hard work.

More than 60 firefighters tackled the fire at the restaurant, bar and entertainment venue, which started at 2.30am on July 14.

Drone images showed the aftermath of the fire, which left the establishment completely gutted.

Owner Ciaran O’Quigley and his family spent the day glued to the pavement outside, watching the emergency services work tirelessly to save as much of the business as they could after the family put so much effort into creating the venue over the years.

The harrowing scenes even prompted a heroic reaction from Jamie Webster, who ran into the restaurant to warn staff.

Exactly one year later, the scaffolding, which was put in place while repairs were under way, was finally taken down.

Many residents who were left shocked by the devastating fire turned out to watch as the metal poles were taken down from the front of the site.

“The community were amazing last year,” Ciaran explained.

“They’ve supported Mu Mu for nearly 30 years and when the scaffolding came down there was a massive group just standing and watching.”

Now, the club has announced the date of its grand reopening.
