No arrests yet following stabbing in Maidstone town centre

Police confirmed there have been no arrests after an early morning disturbance in Maidstone in which a man was stabbed.

The incident happened at 4am on Saturday morning.

Witnesses said that about30 to 40 people were gathered in Lower Stone Street at the time.

One man was stabbed and lay motionless near the junction by the Miller Heights tower block as paramedics worked on him for a lengthy period.

He was taken by air ambulance to a London hospital, where officers have confirmed he is in a stable condition.

The road was sealed off yesterday morning, between Romney Place and Wat Tyler Way, while forensic officers went to work.

It reopened just after 3pm.

Police would still like to hear from anyone with information on the assault, or the wider disturbance. Please contact Kent Police if you have not already done so.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with video footage, such as mobile phone recordings, CCTV or dash camera video recorded in the area at the time.
