Night-time criminals in Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells were under the spotlight of a police operation.

Volunteer police officers patrolled the areas on Saturday evening and dealt with a number of incidents, including the arrest of a 26-year-old man on suspicion of committing a public order offence.

The special constables helped recover stolen property and issues notices for parking infringements.

Kent Police is looking for more volunteers to join the force.

Ins Justin Watts said: “Special constables are a really valued asset for the force, and volunteering their spare time to the force allows us to continue to undertake proactive police work such as licensing checks during busy times of the week, as well as supporting regular officers in dealing with routine late-night incidents such as alcohol related public order incidents.

"We are regularly supported by special constables across the west of the county and continue to value their support.

"I would encourage anyone who is interested in a career with Kent Police or in volunteering to consider a career as a special constable.”

People interested in applying must be over 18 and meet required fitness and medical standards.
