Man and woman charged with nearly 80 shoplifting and theft offences in Maidstone, West Malling and Snodland

A man and woman have been charged with nearly 80 theft and shoplifting offences.

Toni Cooney, 25, and Craig Smith, 45, both of Hollywood Lane in Wainscott, were arrested last Friday.

Together they allegedly carried out a stealing spree across Maidstone, Snodland and West Malling.

The charges follow an investigation into the theft of alcohol, meat, razor blades and fuel from the three towns.

The offences allegedly happened between April and August this year, spreading to businesses in the Medway area.

Appearing at Medway Magistrates Court, Miss Cooney pleaded not guilty to 39 counts of theft and one of making off without payment.

She has been remanded in custody and will appear for trial at same court on September 19.

Mr Smith has been charged with 39 counts of theft and a further four of making off without payment.

He has been bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates Court on September 19.
