Two cars were involved in a crash which left a woman and child requiring hospital treatment.

The incident happened close to Tesco Express on London Road in Allington, near Maidstone, shortly after midday and caused disruption to traffic in the area.

Police, firefighters and the ambulance service were called to the scene of the collision, which also left a traffic light damaged.

A woman and a child were both treated for their injuries at the scene before being taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital as a precaution.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed those involved in the crash were already free from the vehicles by the time they arrived, and the scene was left in the hands of Kent Police.

The road has now been cleared.
