Firefighters were called to a property after a kitchen blaze was started by a pan fire.
Hot fat from a pan on the hob made its way into the extractor fan and nearly turned serious.
Two engines were called to the scene in Western Road, Maidstone, at around 4.50pm on Sunday.
A fire service spokesman said: “Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish a small fire in the extractor fan. A high pressure fan was used to clear the house of smoke. There were no reported injuries.”
They were able to leave the scene at 5.30pm.
The resident called 999 swiftly, allowing crews to put the fire out fast before it was able to spread.
Firefighters are now reminding everyone to keep looking while you're cooking, and if a fire breaks out, to “get out, stay out, and call 999”.
