A 74-year-old man was killed and his wife was injured after a car mounted the kerb and struck them.

The incident happened in Cumberland Avenue, Maidstone, during Friday afternoon's rush hour.

The man died at the scene. The 77-year-old woman is in hospital with minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
