Person hit by train on line between Ashford and Paddock Wood

Emergency services have been called to railway tracks after a person was struck by a train.

Medics are currently at the scene of the incident in Pluckley, on the line between Ashford and Paddock Wood.

The driver is understood to have reported the incident shortly before 5.45pm.

Train operator Southeastern has warned services in the area will be disrupted, and many will be diverted via Maidstone East while emergency services respond to the incident.

It tweeted at 7.55pm to say passengers were being rescued from the stranded train.

Replacement buses are operating between Tonbridge and Ashford.

British Transport Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for comment.
