Police appeal for witnesses after a head-on collision on the A228, Maidstone Road, near the Hop Farm

Police are appealing for witnesses to a head-on collision near Paddock Wood yesterday which left two men seriously injured.

The crash, which involved three vehicles, happened on the A228 Maidstone Road, between the Hop Farm roundabout at Beltring, Paddock Wood, and the Badsell Road roundabout near Five Oak Green.

A Chatham man, who is in his 40s and was driving a blue Fiat Ducato van, was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London after suffering leg, arm and neck injuries. His condition is now described as serious but stable.

The second man, who is also in his 40s and was driving a black Ford Transit van, was taken to the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. His injuries are said to be serious but not life-threatening.

A woman, who was driving a blue Toyota Yaris, suffered minor injuries.

Police and ambulance crews along with firefighters and highways staff were at the scene for four hours and there were long tailbacks as the section of road was closed in both directions.
