Police close southbound A229 Fairmeadow, Maidstone at White Rabbit roundabout

Police closed a busy route this afternoon after a two-car crash.

The southbound stretch of the A229 Fairmeadow in Maidstone was shut at the White Rabbit roundabout.

The two-car collision happened near Fremlin Walk, at the turning for Waterside and St Faith's Street, which run alongside House of Fraser.

Two ambulances were called to the scene, and one person was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital with chest and abdominal pain.

Police officers were also at the scene directing vehicles and operating the road closure.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 12.30pm on 12 January, 2017 following a collision on Fairmeadow, Maidstone.

"The incident involved two vehicles and was attended by officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

"There are no reported serious injuries but the road is currently closed whilst both vehicles are recovered."

The road fully reopened shortly before 3pm.
