A police officer was assaulted in a patrol designed to combat anti-social behaviour on Wednesday. (June 12)

A 38-year-old man has been charged with the assault after a police patrol on The Cockpit, Marden, turned nasty.

He was also charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cannabis and obstructing a constable.

Two other men were arrested in what was supposed to be an operation to prevent anti-social behaviour in partnership with housing provider Golding Homes.

An 18 year-old was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and possession with intent to supply cannabis. He was released on bail until July 22.

Another man, aged 30, was taken directly to court after he arrested for being wanted on a warrant.

Inspector Jody Gagan-Cook from Kent Police said: “This operation was run in partnership with Golding Homes to help resolve local issues that affect residents in the area.

“As a result we made three arrests and seized some drugs. Our work with Golding Homes will continue and they will take enforcement action against any residents who are suspected of breaching their tenancy, and we will pursue any individuals who are suspected of committing criminal offences in the area.”
