A man has appeared in court following a spate of alleged assaults, including on two police officers.

Luke Morgan of Hardy Street, Maidstone was charged after reports of an incident yesterday of a man being bottled on the Millennium Bridge in the town.

Luke Morgan was charged with a number of assaults following alleged incidents on Tuesday

Police were called on Tuesday at 12.23pm to reports the victim had been speaking to a woman he knew, when it is claimed 29-year-old Morgan, who was with her, assaulted him.

The victim received hospital treatment after suffering a cut to his head.

But around half an hour later, patrols were called to a separate altercation in Knightrider Street.

The defendant allegedly left on an e-scooter and was later found and detained in Lower Boxley Road.

During his arrest it is said the suspect kicked and bit two officers while constables also reportedly seized a bottle and a sharpened keyring.

Luke Morgan is next due to appear in Maidstone Crown Court on June 15

Morgan appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court today charged with wounding with intent, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, a racially aggravated public order offence, possessing an offensive weapon and possession of a bladed article.

Later at the police station, it is further alleged the man shouted racist abuse once he arrived.
