Police launch probe into workshop fire at Kent Wardrobes in Maidstone

An investigation has been launched after a blaze tore through a workshop in Maidstone.

Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier were called to the Kent Wardrobes commercial building in Gravelly Bottom Road. Kingswood at about 2.20am.

The fire has destroyed the workshop

Police arrived at the scene shortly after, at 2.54am.

They are now working to establish the cause of the fire alongside Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

At 4.30pm, fire crews were still working to fully extinguish the smouldering property.

Police are appealing for information.

A statement posted on the company's Facebook page said: ''Our Workshop/Showrooms have been the subject of a suspected burglary and then set on fire, destroying all evidence of the incident.

''To our neighbours on Gravelly Bottom Road, if you have any CCTV footage from early this morning, or if you are aware of any suspicious actions/activities either last night, or this morning, can you please contact the Police to aid with their investigation.

''All customers who have installations scheduled, we will be contacting you over the coming days.

''Any customer’s who we have/are in the process of quoting, please bear with us.

''We will look to provide additional updates as and when we have any news.

''Our sincere apologies for any/all inconvenience caused.''
