A sighting of a wanted man sparked a police search in Maidstone this morning.

Officers were deployed just after 9am after a suspect was seen in a car on the Sutton Road.

Patrol cars searched the area, including Park Wood and Boughton Monchelsea, and arrested the 24-year-old in Green Lane, Langley, at 9.45am.

The man was still being held in police custody at 6pm, on suspicion of theft, dangerous driving and making off without payment.
