Police were called to a disturbance in Maidstone town centre this afternoon.

Officers rushed to Week Street, close to popular clothing store Primark, at 2.40pm.

Witnesses said the disturbance involved young man and a young woman.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a disturbance in Week Street, Maidstone, at 2.40pm on Tuesday."

A spokesman confirmed the following day that there had been a dispute involving a man and a woman who were known to each other.

He said: "Officers have since spoken to both of them and no offences have been reported."
