Police called to remove problem passenger from Southeastern service in Barming near Maidstone

A train service had to stop after a passenger caused a disturbance.

The line through Barming, near Maidstone, was brought to a halt for around 20 minutes at around 6.37pm (July 7) as police dealt with the person.

Southeastern tweeted: “Due to passengers causing a disturbance on a train, the Maidstone East Line is being disrupted.

“Security and police are on site to remove the disruptive passengers.”

It later tweeted an update at 6.52pm saying the passenger in question was removed from the train and it was soon ready to depart.

Delays were initially an issue but by around 7.15pm the company said that services between Victoria and Ashford International were back on track.

British Transport Police has been asked for more information.
