A stable block belonging to an animal welfare charity has been burnt down in a second arson attack in the space of a week.

The blaze started in the building at Pukka Ponies' field in Dean Street, East Farleigh around 9.30pm yesterday.

Sarah Daniell runs the stables which rescues abandoned horses and ponies. She broke the news to her supporters on Facebook. She said: "Beyond devastated. Literally no words, total shock."

She continued: "Cowardly scum came back, torched the stables this time. Game over. You win. Horses are unharmed thank god."

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said by the time crews arrived on Saturday night the building was well alight.

They said: "Due to the structure having already suffered extensive damage at the time of crews arrival the stable was allowed to burn under controlled conditions.

"The site was left with the owner when crews left at 22:51pm."

It comes days after a storage shed was torched late last Saturday or early the following day.

This destroyed hundreds of pounds worth of feed, equipment and even CCTV cameras bought last year after a series of thefts.

Ms Daniell said work is underway to remove the remaining building from the field before it too is targeted.
