TWO security guards have been honoured for helping a woman who collapsed at a bus station.

Stuart Brumbridge and Mick Gillard, from Vision Security Group which looks after The Mall Chequers shopping centre, Maidstone, were presented with certificates of recognition by their managing director Bill Muskin for their quick thinking and actions which helped save the woman’s life.

Mr Brumbridge and Mr Gillard were on duty at the shopping centre on April 7 when they were called to the incident in the bus station.

Mr Brumbridge, 23, from Dover, arrived first to find the woman collapsed on the ground and was not responding.

He put her in the recovery position and called for help in the form of Mick Gillard, 56, from Sittingbourne.

They called an ambulance and while waiting for it to arrive, found the woman could communicate with them by wiggling her little finger.

By asking her questions and watching her response they were able to relay vital information to the ambulance crew as they made their way to the scene.

The woman, who was taken to hospital, made a full recovery and visited the security office a week later to pass on a note of thanks but did not leave her name or address.

Now the pair are appealing for her to contact them again as they want to meet her properly and see how she is.

A shopping centre spokesman said: "Stuart and Mick did very well to help the woman and managing to communicate with her.

"They were very glad to hear she had recovered but would love to be able to meet her in person. We would love the woman to get in touch again and let us know how she is getting on."
