TWO men, one from Kent, have been charged with four counts of manslaughter in connection with the deaths of four rail workers.

Roy Kennett, 27, from Hollingbourne, near Maidstone, and Mark Connolly, 43, from Anglesey, have been bailed to appear at Kendal Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, November 2.

Connolly also faces a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice and three charges under the Health and Safety Act.

Kennett has also been charged with one offence under section seven of the Health and Safety Act. The two men were originally arrested on March 2 this year after the four rail workers died after being struck by a flatbed trailer that rolled down a slope. The incident happened at Tebay, Cumbria, on Sunday, February 15.
