Residents have been left without running water this evening due to a power outage at the supplier's site.

People living in Barming, near Maidstone, have been warned they could expect hours of dry taps.

A post on the South East Water states the issue could take up to 10pm to resolve.

"We currently have a power outage at our site which means we are unable to pump the water," it states.

"You may therefore be experiencing no water or low water pressure.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and reassure customers that we are working hard to fix the issue as quickly as possible."

Last month a sink hole opened up in Orchard Fields housing development in Hermitage Lane, Barming.

Residents detailed their shock at the scenes having recently bought a new house on the site.
