Linton Hill, in Loose, near Maidstone, reopen after telegraph pole blocks road

A main road was shut in both directions after a car crashed into a telegraph pole.

There was slow traffic and Linton Hill, in Loose, near Maidstone, was closed between Heath Road and Redwall Lane due to the fallen power cables.

Damage has been caused to a telegraph pole which was blocking the road after being driven into by a car at around 6am this morning (Thursday).

Work was ongoing to clear the route and as of 8am the road had reopened.

Police officers were in attendance and no injuries have been reported.

Bus company Arriva said there would be “severe delays” to Service 5 this morning due to the accident and buses were not be able to serve Staplehurst and Linton Hill.

Drivers were being advised to use an alternative route and warned there would be delays in the area.
