A section of a busy road is set to close next week wihle Southern Water carry out repair works.

Advanced warning signs have been placed along Wheeler Street in Maidstone announcing the section just off James Street will be blocked from May 22.

The road is commonly used by drivers making their way to the Aldi store at the corner of the street that connects to Holland Road.

Southern Water engineers will be carrying out repairs and and maintenance to its pipes.

At the moment the roadworks are only scheduled for a day, finishing on May 23. A diversion route has been mapped out for people hoping to use the road.

It will instruct drivers to make their way to the A249 Sittingbourne Road via Holland Road, then left into Hatherhall Road.

It will continue down Park Avenue before rejoining Wheeler Street at the top.
