Temporary traffic lights have been put in place along a major road in Maidstone after a void opened up in the carriageway.

Police were called to Northumberland Road in Shepway at around 1.40pm after the hazard was spotted.

Officers initially closed the road until Kent Highways officers arrived.

It has since reopened with temporary traffic lights in place so they can carry out an investigation and make the area safe.
