A key road through the centre of a village is to close on Monday.

The Street in Bearsted will be shut between a point just to the east of Cross Keys and 4 South View, about 85 metres to the east of The Oak on The Green.

The closure is to enable contractors to raise the ironworks in the carriageway and KCC is asking residents not to leave their cars parked on this section of the road.

The footpath will remain open but vehicle access to properties will need to be restricted for a short period while work is carried out in front of each property.

Following the closure there will be a further three days of work under temporary traffic signals.

The diversion route is via Roundwell, A20 Ashford Road, The Landway, Hog Hill, Ware Street, The Green, The Street and vice versa.
