The ongoing work on the Maidstone bridge system is overrunning today, it has been warned.

Teams are currently working to tarmac a stretch of road at the end of the High Street on Bishops Way.

An advisory notice has been issued that states these works are taking longer than expected, and are likely to run over into the peak period.

Lane closures on the bridge system are currently only supposed to be in place during off-peak hours, and should be removed before 4pm.

The work should still be complete before 6pm.

A spokesperson for Jackson Civil Engineering, the contractors behind the works, said: "We apologise for any disruption this may cause this afternoon and hope to have everything up and running as usual asap."
