Police testing plants believed to be cannabis after fire breaks out in roof of Detling house

Police are conducting forensic tests on suspected cannabis plants discovered after a house fire in Detling today.

Firefighters were called to a roof on fire in Hockers Lane at just after 8am and sent three engines.

But after declaring the scene safe at around 9.45am, police teams moved in and began combing through the property.

A police spokesman said: "We are still at the scene and will be investigating the cause of the fire, but we have located some plants at the scene which are believed to be cannabis."

The scene was declared safe at 9.45am and there are no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by firefighters who are being assisted by the police. No one was injured in the blaze.
