It comes after he featured as a pundit on ITV's coverage of the France versus Germany match, which was filmed at Maidstone Studios yesterday.

Co-owner of the barbers, Donda Michaelas, said: “He had the Hairy Bear special and left a nice tip.

“I think he was happy and we’ll see how his face looks on TV tonight.

“The staff said he was polite and took a photo with staff at the end.

“For us it’s an absolute privilege to have a legend in like that - even though I’m a Liverpool suporter and Wesley is a West Ham supporter.”

Mr Michaelas runs the barber shop with Wesley Mason and also has a branch in Union Street, Maidstone.

But Roy Keane's shave seems to have divided opinion on Twitter by those watching Euro 2020 tonight.

One user, @westham_bubble, wrote: “ROY KEANE HAS SHAVED HIS BEARD OFF WHAT DO WE DO?”

And @Justm3x posted: “NOOOOOOOO Keane’s not beardy anymore.”

Meanwhile, @AntDickinson said: “I like that Roy Keane's had a shave, it suits him much better when he's clean shaven.”

While @littlemandieb shared: “Omg how young does Roy Keane looks… so much better.”

Former England and Arsenal legend Ian Wright also covered the Euro 2020 match from Kent.

The 57-year-old was capped 33 times by England scoring nine goals during a career which also saw him delight Crystal Palace and West Ham fans.

He posted to his Instagram encouraging his 1.1 million fans to tune in to the coverage, with the Group F 'pool of death' clash kicking off at 8pm.

Fans were delighted by his appearance, with Arsenal supporter Andy Rayfield commenting: "Just up the road from us Wrighty. We'll pop down with cobnuts and gypsy tart."

He was joined on the sofa by Keane and French superstar Patrick Vieira.

They appeared in front of a London skyline but were in fact a few hundred yards from Grove Green Tesco.

Maidstone Studios will also play host to Tour de France coverage from June 26, as it did last year.
